Lodge Your Application

You will need to lodge your Firearms Licence Application at a Police Station with 100 points of identification.

Next

It currently takes about 3 months for SAPOL to process your Firearms Licence Application.

A good way to increase this time is to call Firearms Branch on a regular basis and ask them why your application hasn’t been processed yet.

Alternatively click here to see SAPOLS ‘Status of current applications’.

If successful you will receive a ‘SAPOL Approval To Undertake Club and/or TAFE Training Letter’. Read this letter diligently as details are included concerning what Training Course(s) you must complete. Read your letter again and follow its instructions.

When your Training is satisfactorily completed the Club and/or TAFE will send SAPOL your PD314 Certificate of Training. Then its about 2 months before your Firearms Licence is issued.

The whole process takes many months - be patient - its worth the wait.
